Syncier to Focus on Stronger Growth Segments

  • Syncier successfully started up with first customers and proven ability to deliver
  • Now even stronger focus on core insurance platform, starting with life insurance run-off business then expanding in other segments
  • For next phase of Syncier development Daniel Poelchau will take over leadershipfrom Andreas Nolte, who is to leave Syncier GmbH at his own request
  • Allianz remains largest shareholder with Microsoft as cloud partner, in discussions with potential further partners
Syncier will be strengthening its development to build a core insurance platform as a service (PaaS). It will be focusing more on growth in life insurance run-off where it has most customer traction so far and further invest in skills and know-how in this segment while continuing to explore other insurance areas.

Allianz will remain the main shareholder of Syncier, together with Microsoft, while seeking further partners. The goal of this new focus is to position Syncier for faster growth as an independent player with a sharpened profile of core offerings. Daniel Poelchau will take over the helm of Syncier as of August 1, 2021, to drive this new phase in the company's development. He takes over from Andreas Nolte, after the setup and run of Syncier in its startup phase, who leaves Allianz at his own request.

Poelchau, currently Chief Business Transformation Officer at Allianz Private Health Insurance in Germany, has spent many years earning a strong reputation as a project and business development manager in various functions at Allianz since 2010. Among other areas he was responsible for the successful build-up and scale-up of Allianz Germany’s Digital Factory. Poelchau joined Allianz from McKinsey. He completed his doctorate in political science at the University of Heidelberg.

Nolte has been with the Allianz Group since May 1, 1999. Before that, he was Chief Information Officer of Allianz Germany, responsible for IT, and held various management positions in Germany and abroad. A doctor of computer science, he started at Allianz as a post-doctoral student at Yale University. Under his leadership, the consolidation of back-end systems and the agile cloud-based redesign of the front-end were massively expanded.

"I wish Daniel Poelchau a successful start to lead Syncier into the next chapter," says Christof Mascher, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Syncier GmbH. "Andreas Nolte, as founder, was instrumental in building up the new business area and successfully establishing it in the market with several customers and great further demand during his four years as managing director. I regret his departure. On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Andreas Nolte for his work to build up the company and for the valuable dialogue. I wish him all the best for his future career plans."
